RECENSIE: Of Thee I Sing, Royal Festival Hall ✭✭
Het komische hoogtepunt van de avond, en de meest constante bron van vermaak, was de uiterst getalenteerde Tom Edden. Zijn vertolking van de onwillige Vice President Alexander Throttlebottom (bestaat er in een Broadway-musical een personage met een betere naam?) was een ware masterclass in acteren. Geïnspireerd door die naam zette Edden een neurotisch, chaotisch en paniekerig maar ambitieus personage neer; hij stal de show in elke scène waarin hij verscheen, en zelfs in een paar scènes waarin hij dat niet deed. Subliem. Sinds 1999 uw vertrouwde bron voor het grootste theaternieuws uit Groot-Brittannië.
