Pleasure Dome Theatre announce casting for upcoming Louisa tour

Pleasure Dome Theatre have announced their casting for new show Louisa touring venues across the South West this October.

Pleasure Dome Theatre are to present their new show, Louisa, touring venues across the South West this October 2021.

Louisa is the incredible true story of how on one stormy night in January 1899, the communities of Lynton & Lynmouth and Porlock rallied in a raging storm to save all the souls of the Forest Hall; a ship foundering in the Bristol channel. With the help of horses and sheer determination, they dragged the heavy lifeboat Louisa thirteen miles across open moor to launch it from Porlock Weir and saved everyone on board.

The writer of Louisa  and Creative Director of the company Helena Payne says, " in partnership with the RNLI we are thrilled and honoured to be sharing the incredible true story of the Overland Launch with audiences across Exmoor and beyond.  This show is a testament to the power of community and the enduring spirit of those who volunteer in Lifesaving."

Pleasure Dome Theatre Associate Artist Scott Le Crass (Lorna Doone 2019, A Midsummer Night's Dream 2021, Rose) will be directing with a stellar creative team including design by Bristol-based Lizzie Watts (Barbershop Chronicles, Elevate) and lighting by Joe Price (Outlier, My Name is Rachel Corrie.) Sebastian Payne makes his debut with the company as Composer and Musical Director arranging stirring renditions of familiar and not-so-familiar sea shanties which underscore the action. There is production support from Pleasure Dome regular Stephanie Berner, Joe Samuels and Lynton native Leanne Berry who will be creating costumes for the piece.

Cast for the five-hander ensemble-driven show will be performed by Janna Fox (African Gothic) and Joe Wiltshire Smith (The History Boys), who recently worked with the Pleasure Dome in A Midsummer Night's Dream as Helena and Bottom respectively. Joining them are actor-musicians Richard Lounds (Mr Men and Little Miss-Selladoor), Tamsin Lynes (Shadowplay), and new graduate Lydia Barton Lovett.

The 80-minute show is supported by the Arts Council, Take Art, BARN and Lynton and Lynmouth Town Council. Exmoor-based Pleasure Dome Theatre Company partnering with the RNLI hope everyone will leave energised and hopeful about what can be achieved when people work together.
