Final casting has been revealed for the transfer of Vault Festival hit Tumulus to London’s Soho Theatre next month.
Harry Lister Smith will join the previously announced Ian Hallard and Ciarán Owens who were in the original production of the play at last year’s Vault Festival in London where it won an Origins Award for Outstanding New Work.
Described as a fast and witty thriller, Tumulus will run at Soho Theatre from 16 April to 4 May 2019. Inspired by a true story, it is written by Christopher Adams and directed by Matt Steinberg.
When Anthony’s one-night stand is found dead on Hampstead Heath, everyone assumes that he is another casualty of London’s chemsex culture. When a second body is discovered, Anthony suspects foul play and is thrust into a heart-pounding journey to uncover the truth.
The three actors play over 40 roles between them, creating digitally generated voices and orchestrating live foley sound effects.
Lister Smith’s most recent screen roles include films God’s Own Country, All Is True and Murder on the Orient Express while he was part of last year’s West End production of A Woman of No Importance directed by Kathy Burke. Hallard was most recently seen in The Boys in the Band at Park Theatre and Vaudeville Theatre in London and double bill The Art of Success and The Taste of the Town at Rose Theatre in Kingston-upon-Thames. Alongside an extensive stage career including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Owens has appeared in TV series including The Last Kingdom, Krypton and Crazyhead.
Tumulus is designed by Alison Neighbour, with lighting design by Christopher Nairne, sound design by Nick Manning and movement direction by Natasha Harrison. It is produced by Paul Casey Productions and Outside Edge Theatre Company.
