About the show

Florian Zeller's wickedly funny comedy The Truth stars Stephen Mangan in a strictly limited West End season at the Apollo Theatre.

Two couples, one affair and a string of lies that will not stay buried. The Truth is Florian Zeller's wickedly funny comedy about how far people will go to avoid honesty, playing a strictly limited season at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. From the Oscar-winning writer of The Father, it arrives in a sparkling translation by Christopher Hampton and a starry West End cast.

What is The Truth about?

At the centre is Michel, a man having an affair with his best friend's wife while insisting to everyone, himself included, that a little dishonesty keeps life running smoothly. As the deceptions multiply, loyalties shift and the audience is kept brilliantly off balance over who is really fooling whom. What starts as a playful comedy about adultery turns into something sharper and more surprising, with Zeller's trademark gift for pulling the rug out just as you think you have found your footing. The production runs around 90 minutes with no interval.

Who stars in The Truth?

Stephen Mangan, known for The Split and Episodes, returns to the London stage as Michel. He is joined by Ardal O'Hanlon of Father Ted, Sarah Hadland of Miranda, and double Olivier Award winner Janie Dee. The revival is directed by Lindsay Posner, with set and costume design by Lizzie Clachan, lighting by Richard Howell and sound by Adam Cork. Casting is confirmed ahead of the run and can change, so it is always worth checking the latest line-up before you book.
