Charlie Stemp to make Broadway debut in Hello Dolly!

Fresh from his acclaimed performance in the West End production of Half A Sixpence, Charlie Stemp is to make his Broadway debut in Hello Dolly! Stemp will play Barnaby Tucker starting from January 20, 2018, the same day that Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber begin performances. Stemp replaces Taylor Trensch who will be going on to play the title role in Dear Evan Hansen. Charlie Stemps made his professional debut in the London cast of Wicked and performed in the international tour of Mamma Mia. Stemp joins Tony Award-winner Gavin Creel as Cornelius, Kate Baldwin as Irene Molloy, Beanie Feldstein as Minnie Fay, Will Burton as Ambrose Kemper, Melanie Moore as Ermengarde, and Jennifer Simard as Ernestina. Angels In America Announces Broadway Transfer

It was announced today that the National Theatre’s production of Tony Kushner’s Angels In America: A Gay Fantasia will transfer to Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre for a limited eighteen week engagement from February 23, 2018. Marianne Elliott’s new production opened at the National Theatre earlier this yea to rave reviews. The production is presented in two halves Part One – Millenium Approaches and Part Two – Perestroika. Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on Broadway will star two-time Tony Award-winner Nathan Lane and Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield. The production will also feature original National Theatre cast members Susan Brown, Denise Gough, Amanda Lawrence, James McArdle and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett with other casting announced shortly. Producer Scott Rudin has announced that A Doll’s House Part 2 will play its final performance on Broadway on 24 September 2017. Lucas Hnath’s comedy sees Ibsen’s Nora return home after 25 years slamming the door on her old married life. The world premiere directed by Sam Gold opened on 27 April and saw Laurie Metcalf, Jayne Houdyshell, Chris Cooper and Condola Rashad all nominated for Tony Awards with Metcalf rinning for Best Actress. The original cast was recently replaced by Julie White, Erin Wilhelmi and Stephen McKinley Henderson. They joined Jayne Houdyshell who remained with the production. A Doll’s House Part 2 was to have played through to 7 January. When the show closes at the end of September the show will have played 30 previews and 173 regular performances. Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber to take over in Hello Dolly!

It was confirmed today that Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber will take over the roles of Dolly Gallagher Levi and Horrace Vandergelder respectively in the award-winning revival of Hello Dolly at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre. Three-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters will start her run in the musical on January 20, 2018. Midler’s final performance is on January 14. The show will be dark between Midler’s last show and Peters’ first. Victor Garber’s most recent appearance on Broadway was in the 2010 revival of Noel Coward’s Present Laughter. He earned Tony nominations for his performances in Lend Me A Tenor, Damn Yankees, Little Me and Deathtrap.
