CLICK FOR SPAMALOT TOUR DATES BELOW It has been announced that Monty Python’s Spamalot is to embark on a new UK tour next year starring Joe Pasquale and Todd Carty. Based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot features a script by Eric Idle and a new score by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. The announcement of the tour follows the huge success of the O2 season where the five remaining members of Monty Python broke box office records. Idle said “Spamalot is fun. The new production is funnier, it’s more like a Python show. There are new costumes and new sets and a new director, so it’s just got a whole different spirit to it”. This is as good a production of Pacific Overtures as anyone is likely to see. It’s well cast, mostly well sung, beautifully, almost hypnotically, staged, full of drama and intrigue
Lucy Bailey has presided over a fraud – this is not Wilde’s play and it doesn’t pretend to be when you are in your expensive seat. But to lure you to pay for the ticket, it masquerades as Wilde’s wonderfully witty and practically perfect play.
This is a play that is both functional and delicate, necessary and yet slightly exotic, lovingly crafted and sumptuous to experience. And like all gorgeous intimate apparel, it ought to be seen.
This is first-rate family entertainment. This Annie is a great night in the theatre and comes highly recommended.
