We are pleased to bring you these great production images by Manuel Harlan from the National Theatre’s production of Pinocchio now in previews at the Lyttelton Theatre. Following his triumphant production of Hary Potter and the Cursed Child, John Tiffany directs this story of Pinocchio and his quest to be truly alive. We follow Pinocchio as he leaves Gepetto’s workshop with Jiminy Cricket on an electrifying adventure from the alpine forests to Pleasure Island to the bottom of the ocean. This is the first time that Pinocchio has been staged. This production features a new book by Dennis Kelly (Matilda) and the unforgettable music and songs from the Walt Disney animated film including I’ve Got No Strings, When You Wish Upon A Star and Give A Little Whistle. Adult casting announced for Matilda UK Tour

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced the adult casting for the first five venues for the upcoming UK tour of Matilda the musical.  The Matilda UK Tour will launch at the Leicester Curve on 5 March 2018 and will visit Dublin, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff in 2018. Having now played Miss Trunchbull for three years in the West End, Craige Els will reprise the role on tour. He will be joined on stage by Carly Thomas as Miss Honey, Sebastian Torkia as Mr Wormwood and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood. The full adult cast includes Joe Atkinson, Peter Bindloss, Oliver Bingham, Emily Bull, Matthew Caputo, Samara Casteallo, Craige Els, Matt Gillett, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Sam Lathwood, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Charlie Martin, Anu Ogunmefun, Carly Thoms, Rebecca Thornhill, Sebastien Torkia, Taylor Walker, Adam Vaughan and Dawn Williams. Matilda Heads Down Under

Following its ongoing success in London’s West End and on Broadway, it has been announced that Matilda – the musical will be heading to Sydney in 2015. Tim Minchin launched the musical in Sydney recently and we thought we’d share the launch announcement with all the Matilda fans in the UK. No casting has been announced as yet.  

Craige Els is Matilda’s new Trunchbull

It has been announced that Craige Els will join the company of Matilda as Miss Trunchbull from September playing alongside James Clyde (Mr Wormwood), Haley Flaherty (Miss Honey) and Kay Murphy (Mrs Wormwood). Craige has previously appeared on stage in Timon of Athens, Antigone and The Cherry Orchard (National Theatre) and on screen in Ripper Street, The Bletchley Circle and Call The Midwife. Further theatre credits include Mamma Mia! (Novello), Oklahoma! (Chichester Festival Theatre), The New Yorkers (Sadler’s Wells), Never Forget (West End and Tour) and Spamalot (West End). Matilda Shapland and Violet Tucker will join Tasha Chapple and Lottie Sicilia in the title role from September 2014.
