Show Boat transfers from Sheffield to the New London Theatre

Despite superb notices from the critics Daniel Evan’s production of Show Boat will now close on 27 August 2016. Show Boat transferred from the Sheffield Crucible where it received rave reviews and was scheduled to run until January 2017 at the New London Theatre. Producers David Ian, Bob Bartner and Norman Tulchin said: “We could not be more proud of Daniel’s production of Show Boat. International hit musical The Bodyguard will return to the West End for a limited six month run with Beverley Knight once again as the lead. Public booking will open on 12 February 2016 for performances beginning at the Dominion Theatre on 15 July 2016. This strictly limited season ends on 7 January 2017. The tour opened at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on Thursday 12 February 2015 before embarking on a two year UK and Ireland tour. Schedule below with further dates to be announced. Cats comes to the London Palladium for Christmas

Andrew Lloyd Webber, Trevor Nunn and Gillian Lynne were today joined by Producer David Ian to announce that Cats will be returning to the West End in a “new edition” of the show. Originally produced at The New London Theatre, the show ran for over 21 years confounding early naysayers who thought that a musical based on T.S Elliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats would never work.  The show went on to be staged around the world conquering all before it.
