The cast and production Of Girl From The North Country are flawless, with orchestrations that transform Dylan’s songs into a rich multi-layered score that will haunt you with its beauty and sadness.
The kids will be somewhat amused by it, and you may enjoy the quips, but Bananaman probably won’t be a holiday show to remember for long.
You would be a hard-hearted soul not to shed a tear (as I did) by the end of this musical based on Grammer’s performance.
Not for nothing does the audience rise to its feet at the end of the performance. Because, it knows, it has not met any strangers during the performance. It has met itself.
For a 10 week trial, this production of Groundhog Day is as good or better than many shows I have seen this year. A West-end transfer must surely be on the cards and I’m sure Andy Karl would be up for a Broadway run. Just get down to the Old Vic asap to see this stunning show. Writing and production of this calibre must be seen!
