Duncan James will play Tick in the forthcoming UK tour of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.

Producer’s David Ian and The Ambassadors Theatre Group have announced today that Duncan James will play Tick in the forthcoming tour of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. David Ian said today “I am absolutely thrilled that audiences have demanded more of Priscilla! The reaction the show gets at theatres everywhere is like something I’ve never witnessed before – it is truly a party not to be missed. It has just been announced that Lenny Henry will host the 2015 Olivier Awards in a ceremony to be held at the Royal Opera House on Sunday April 12. A celebrated comedian and performer for many years, Henry made his West End stage debut in 2003, receiving great acclaim for his performance in So Much Things To Say at Wyndham’s Theatre. Since then, he has gone on to have many notable stage roles, including the title role in the Northern Broadsides production of Othello, which toured the UK and had a successful run at London’s Trafalgar Studios. The Menier Chocolate Factory have today announced that they will stage the first London revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy thriller Communicating Doors from the 7th May to the 27 June 2015. A hired dominatrix flees for her life through a hotel communicating door only to find herself 20 years in the past…. Communicating Doors won Ayckbourn the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Best West End Play Award and the prestigious Molière Award in France. It was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Comedy. The 5 Worst Musicals – An Opinion

Worst musicals ever written.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love musicals. So I was intrigued to see that Chris Caggiano who teaches musical-theatre history at the Boston Conservatory had compiled an online list of the worst 50 musicals ever. I have to say from the start that I disagree with about 70% of his list, but it did prompt me to think about shows I consider truly awful. I couldn’t come up with 50 but I did come up with five. I limited my list down to shows I had actually seen, which made it all the more challenging. Let’s face it, amongst musical theatre fans talk of legendary flops and terrible shows is usually not just limited to those we have seen, but by word of mouth from others who were in attendance.
