Following a sell-out run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the National Theatre’s acclaimed stage adaptation of Dr Seuss’s The Cat In The Hat will return to London in a brand new production this festive season from Monday 8 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015 at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that the cat in the hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. Cast announced for The Sound Of Music at The Curve

The Sound Of Music at The Curve Leicester

The Curve Theatre, Leicester announced casting for their forthcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound Of Music to be directed by Paul Kerryson. Casting will include Emma Clifford (Baroness Elsa Schraeder), Michael French (Captain Von Trapp), Emma Harrold (Liesl Von Trapp), Mark Inscoe (Max Dettweiler), Laura Pitt-Pulford (Maria Rainer), Lucy Schaufer (Mother Abbess), Annie Wensak (Frau Schmidt), and Jack Wilcox (Rolf Gruber). The production will open on 3rd December, with previews from 28 November and play until 17 January. Over the past five years Curve’s Christmas musicals have become increasingly popular, receiving widespread critical acclaim and attracting audiences from all over the UK. Paul Kerryson Recieves Outstanding Contribution Award

Paul Kerryson, Artistic Director of Leicester’s Curve theatre will receive The Stage Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre at the 2014 UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 19 October at London’s historic Guildhall. Paul Kerryson has been Artistic Director of Leicester Theatre Trust since 1991 – first at the Haymarket Theatre and from 2008 at Leicester’s Curve – a theatre he was instrumental in founding. In 2013, it was announced that Kerryson will step down at the end of 2014. Rachel Tackley, President of UK Theatre, said: “I am delighted that UK Theatre has recognised Paul’s significant contribution to the theatre industry. The impact his work has had over the last 22 years has been felt not only in Leicester but across the whole of the UK. Sunny Afternoon Extends Booking Period To 31 January 2015

Sunny Afternoon, the critically acclaimed new musical which tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of The Kinks, has extended its run until 31 January 2015. The show begins previews at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 4 October 2014. Following a sold-out run at Hampstead Theatre, this world premiere production, with music and lyrics by Ray Davies and new book by Joe Penhall, will open on 28 October. The cast of Sunny Afternoon is currently in rehearsals with director Edward Hall, Ray Davies and Joe Penhall.
