Sunny Afternoon, the critically acclaimed new musical which tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of The Kinks, has extended its run until 31 January 2015. The show begins previews at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 4 October 2014. Following a sold-out run at Hampstead Theatre, this world premiere production, with music and lyrics by Ray Davies and new book by Joe Penhall, will open on 28 October. The cast of Sunny Afternoon is currently in rehearsals with director Edward Hall, Ray Davies and Joe Penhall. An official cast recording album has been produced by Ray Davies at his Konk studios, and will be released in October on Chrysalis BMG. The Full Monty launched its UK tour last night at the Manchester Opera House. In 1997, A British film about six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers with nothing to lose, took the world by storm becoming one of the most successful British films ever made. Adapted from his screenplay, Simon Beaufoy has captured the heart of the story including iconic son gs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones. It was confirmed today that International opera star Bryn Terfel and Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson will reprise their roles as Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett in Stephen Sondheim’s gloriously gruesome musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for a limited season at the London Coliseum in early 2015. Following critically-acclaimed performances at New York’s Lincoln Center earlier this year, this sell-out staging comes to ENO with just 13 performances from 30 March – 12 April. Sweeney Todd will be the first production in a major new long-term partnership between ENO and The GradeLinnit Company. Bill Kenwright is to produce The Small Hand, a new thriller from Susan Hill, author of The Woman In Black. Adapted from her 2010 novel, The Small Hand tells the story of antiquarian bookseller Snow who accidently comes across a derelict Edwardian house after taking a wrong turn. Curiosity gets the better of him and he approaches the front door to take a closer look, but is hit with a chilling sensation as he feels a small cold hand reach for his own.
