Previews for Into The Heights begin this Saturday 3rd October at the King’s Cross Theatre. Into The Heights is being presented by popular demand following its sell-out UK Premiere at Southwark Playhouse in 2014. Reprising their roles following the run at Southwark Playhouse are David Bedella as Kevin, Josie Benson as Camila, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Daniela, Sam Mackay as Usnavi, Sarah Naudi as Carla and Eve Polycarpou as Abuela. Jason Manford carefully crafts Leo as a buffoon with a heart of marshmallow, is very funny (physically and verbally) and nails his passion for show-business precisely. Like a deranged Bratwurst Behemoth, Jupitus’ Franz is a triumph of dysfunction, hysterical devotion to a lost cause and amiable murderous delusion. London fringe venue closes after first production.

London’s newest fringe theatre is closing after staging one of the most acclaimed productions of a Stephen Sondheim musical in recent times. Sweeney Todd played its final sold-out performance of an extended opening season just yesterday at the 100-seat Twickenham Theatre in West London. Today, Executive Director, West End producer Tony Green has just two days to vacate the London Road premises after the pub was sold in a move he calls a “total bombshell”. “I have been advised that the pub has been sold and that the new landlords ‘do not figure theatre as part of their plans’,” he says. “To make matters worse, the new landlords, along with the brewery and the superior landlords of the site are not going to honour the three months’ notice period I had in place.” Mr Green is now actively seeking new premises in the area, where he has lived for 25 … Read more

On the 10th September Twickenham Theatre launch their inaugural season with an intimate production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. Olivier Award winner David Badella will play the razor-wielding madman Sweeney Todd with Sarah Ingram as his pie-making partner in crime, Mrs Lovett. Joining Badella and Ingram will be Shaun Chambers, Chris Coleman, Zoe Curlett, Genevieve Kingsford, Mark McKerracher, Mikaela Newton and Josh Tevendale. Twickenham Theatre’s Sweeney Todd will be Directed by Derek Anderson with Musical Direction by Benjamin Holder, Staging by Lee Crowley, Set Design by Rachel Stone, Costume Design by Olivia Ward and Sound Design by Joel Price.
