The Royal Court has announced that Carey Mulligan has been cast in the world premiere of Dennis Kelly’s play Girls and Boys.
Overall, despite a good cast and production values, the play doesn’t reach the heights it could have.
The play’s the thing – wherein to catch the conscience of a King. And the hearts of an audience. Turner needs to pay more attention to the play and the actors. At the moment, to slightly misquote Hamlet, “Why, look you now, how unworthy a thing you make of Shakespeare’s greatest play.”
These great rehearsal images have just been released for Lyndsey Turner’s production of Hamlet which stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role. This exciting new production of Hamlet starts performances at the Barbican Theatre on 5 August 2015 for an exclusive 12-week run. Set designs are by Es Devlin with costume designs by Katrina Lindsay, video by Luke Halls, lighting by Jane Cox, music by Jon Hopkins, sound by Christopher Shutt, movement by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and fights by Bret Yount.
