David Bowie’s Lazarus Comes To London This October

Before his passing, David Bowie and Edna Walsh premiered their new musical Lazarus in New York. Producers announced today that the show will have its London premiere in October 2016. Lazarus is inspired by the book, The Man Who Fell To Earth. Thomas Newton, as he remains still on Earth – a ‘man’ unable to die, his head soaked in cheap gin and haunted by a past love. We follow Newton during the course of a few days where the arrival of another lost soul – might set him finally free. Lazarus had its world premiere at the New York Theatre Workshop in November 2015, selling out in record time. The third of a quartet of summer plays, Jesus Christ Superstar makes its first return to London since the arena-rock version at the O2 in 2012. The combination of the remarkable venue, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s infectious riffs and Tim Rice’s sharp lyrics means that production was never going to be a flop. As you might expect in an outdoor show this was a fairly stripped back affair, with simpler costumes and minimal props. It is a sparkly production in many senses; not only does it have an ‘X Factor’ sheen throughout but glitter is used in place of blood. Producers have informed us this morning that the production of Radio Times at Charing Cross Theatre is being postponed. The Producers said: “Sadly, due to artist non-availability, we are unable to present the production on the dates originally planned. We hope to present the production at a later date.” If you have tickets for Radio Times please contact the ticket vendor for a full refund. Titanic Extends Record Breaking Charing Cross Season

Titanic extends for an additional week at Charing Cross Theatre

Producers have announced that Titanic, the critically acclaimed musical by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone and directed by Thom Southerland, will extend it’s run at the Charing Cross Theatre by one week, now closing on 13 August 2016. The regular midweek matinee that week will move from Wednesday to become a Stagey Matinee on Tuesday 9 August to give other West End performers chance to see it. Additonally, Titanic composer Maury Yeston (Nine, Grand Hotel) is flying in from New York to take part in an after-show Q & A on Tuesday July 26 with Matt Wolf, London theatre critic of The International New York Times and Theatre Editor at The Arts Desk. This not-to-be-missed evening will give musical theatre fans a unique chance to hear first hand from one of Broadway’s most celebrated composers.
