Patrick Marber’s The Red Lion is to transfer to Trafalgar Studios for a limited season from 1 November – 2 December 2017. This powerful, touching locker room drama reaches beyond the beautiful game. It explores contrasting ideas about loyalty, ambition and what it takes to win, from the perspectives of three different generations. Following a sell out run at Live Theatre in Newcastle, Director Max Robert’s new version of the play sees Stephen Tompkinson (Spamalot – West End, DCI Banks; Drop The Dead Donkey), John  Bowler (It Just Stopped – The Orange Tree; Operation Elvis – RSC/Almeida) and Dean Bone (The Terminal Velocity Of Snowflakes and The Savage – Live Theatre) reprise their roles. Following on from last years sell-out success, Regent’s Park Open Theatre sees the return of Jesus Christ Superstar for an extended season from 11 August to 23 September 2017. Joining Declan Bennett (Jesus), Tyrone Huntley (Judas), David Thaxton (Pilate) and Peter Caulfield (Herod) are Maimuna Memon (David Bowie’s Lazarus, and The Busker’s Opera), Phillip Browne (Anything Goes – West End, Piaf – Donmar, Ragtime – Piccadilly Theatre) as Caiaphas and Sean Kingsley returns as Annas. Tim Newman (Memphis – West End, Mamma Mia! – International Tour) will play Simon Zealotes. Phil King returns to the production as Peter. Laura Carmichael joins the cast of Apologia at Trafalgar Studios

Laura Carmichael will join the cast of Apologia alongside Emmy and Tony award-winner Stockard Channing when it opens at Trafalgar Studios in July 2017. Carmichael, best known for portraying Lady Edith Crawley in the internationally acclaimed series Downton Abbey and was last seen on stage in Jamie Lloyd’s adaptation of Genet’s The Maids. Laura will play Trudi, the American partner of Peter (played by Joseph Millson), who is the eldest son of Kristin Miller (Stockard Channing). Apologia will be directed by Jamie Lloyd.
