The Bodyguard announces tour of UK and Ireland

Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian today announced the UK and Ireland tour dates for Thea Sharrock’s hit production of the West End musical The Bodyguard. The tour opened at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on Thursday 12 February 2015 before embarking on a two year UK and Ireland tour. Schedule below with further dates to be announced. Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. film, The Bodyguard has a book by Alex Dinelaris and opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in December 2012, where it played to packed houses and standing ovations. It was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Set Design. CLICK FOR SPAMALOT TOUR DATES BELOW It has been announced that Monty Python’s Spamalot is to embark on a new UK tour next year starring Joe Pasquale and Todd Carty. Based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot features a script by Eric Idle and a new score by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. The announcement of the tour follows the huge success of the O2 season where the five remaining members of Monty Python broke box office records. Idle said “Spamalot is fun. The new production is funnier, it’s more like a Python show. There are new costumes and new sets and a new director, so it’s just got a whole different spirit to it”. Elaine Stritch passes away at 89

BritishTheatre.com is saddened to report that theatre legend Elaine Stritch passed away at her home this morning, aged 89. Her stage credits included Loco (1946), Bus Stop (1955 – Tony Nominated), Sail Away (1961), Company (1970), A Delicate Balance (1996), Small Craft Warnings (1973), The Gingerbread Lady (1974), Showboat (1994) and A Little Night Music (2010). Her one woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty in 2001 was a Tony Award winner and played seasons in both the UK and USA. During her career, which spanned seven decades she appeared in television shows including The Growing Paynes (1949), The Goodyear Television Playhouse (1953-55), The Ed Sullivan Show (1954), she was also the first and original Trixie Norton in the pilot for The Honeymooners sketch with Jackie Gleeson, Art Carney and Pert Kelton. Jersey Boys – UK and Irish Tour Cast Announced

The producers of the Jersey Boys UK tour today announced the full cast for the first ever tour of the multi-award winning musical. Tim Driesen will star as Frankie Valli, with Stephen Webb, Sam Ferriday and Lewis Griffiths will star as Tommy DeVito, Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi respectively.
