Casting has been announced for The Clockmaker’s Daughter, an original musical by new writers Daniel Finn and Michael Webborn which has its world premier at the Landor Theatre in May. The Clockmaker’s Daughter is a folk musical with a specific, yet timeless, feel with a story built around the themes of prejudice, discrimination, animosity and fear of the unknown. Spindlewood, like most towns of age, has its traditions. But no practice, custom or Old Wives Warning is so firmly adhered to as ‘The Turning of the Key’. Bugsy Malone Extends

Bugsy Malone extends at the Lyric Hammersmith until 5 September

The Lyric Hammersmith announced today the their production of Bugsy Malone would extend its run until Saturday 5th September 2015. Wriiten by Alan Parker and Paul Williams, the production at the Lyric Hammersmith is the first UK production in over a decade and has re-opened the venue following a multi-million pound redevelopment. Bugsy Malone is set in Prohibition era New York with rival gangsters Fat Sam and Dandy Dan at logger heads. As custard pies fly and Dan’s destructive ‘splurge guns’ wreak havoc, Bugsy Malone, a penniless ex-boxer and all round nice guy, falls for Blousey Brown, an aspiring singer. Last night, Billy Elliot celebrated ten years in the West End. The show’s gala opening night took place exactly 10 years ago yesterday. To co-incide with the 10th anniversary, the show announced that it will launch it’s first UK tour in 2016 with dates to be announced shortly. In attendance last night were Elton John, Stephen Daldry, and Lee Hall. Elton John said: “When Stephen, Lee and I started work on Billy Elliot the Musical I knew this was going to be something very special. It’s no secret that I fell in love with the film and from that moment I was convinced Billy’s story should be seen on stage. Les Miserables London – New Cast Announced

Jeremy Secomb joins the cast of Les Miserables in London as Javert.

Now in its 30th record-breaking year, Cameron Mackintosh has announced new cast members for Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre in London. Joining the cast from 15 June 2015 are Phil Daniels as Thénardier, Jeremy Secomb as Javert, Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine; Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier and Zoë Doano as Cosette. Jeremy Secomb and Zoë Doano join the company fresh from the acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd at Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop where they played Sweeney and Johanna respectively. Rachelle Ann Go comes to the role of Fantine having played Gigi in Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre. Phil Daniels is best known for his roles in Quadrophenia, East Enders, and New Tricks. Multi-Platinum selling recording artist and songwriter Matt Cardle will join the cast of Memphis from 6th July 2015. Cardle was the winner of the seventh series of ITV’s The X Factor and replaces Killian Donnelly who is set to star in Kinky Boots. Cardle will join Beverley Knight who continues as club singer Felicia Farrell in Memphis through to October 2015. Matt Cardle says: “I’m thrilled to be making my acting and West End debut in Memphis. The new cast will begin performances on 22nd June 2015 and comprises Sion Daniel Young as Christopher, Rebecca Lacey as Siobhan with Nicholas Tennant continuing as Ed, Mary Stockley as Judy, Jacqueline Clarke as Mrs Alexander, Indra Ove as Mrs Shears, Stephen Beckett as Roger Shears, Matthew Trevannion as Mr Thompson, Pearl Mackie as No. 40/Punk Girl, Sean Mckenzie as Reverend Peters and Kaffe Keating will play alternate Christopher.
