Fiasco Theatre Brings Into The Woods To The Menier

Following an acclaimed season in New York, ground breaking theatre company Fiasco will bring their production of Into The Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine to the Menier Chocolate Factory this summer. Using ten actors, multiple musical instruments and boundless imagination, this fairytale classic is reimagined as never before. This production, which received the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival, will include the original US cast. Made into a successful Disney film starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp and James Corden, the score features timeless songs including Children Will Listen and No One Is Alone. 1984 will return to the Playhouse Theatre for a limited summer season and new casting has just been announced for the show’s third West End season. The cast for the hit West End production of George Orwell’s dystopian masterpiece will be: Rosie Ede, Andrew Gower, Joshua Higgott, Richard Katz, Anthony O’Donnell, Daniel Rabin, Catrin Stewart and Angus Wright alongside Eve Benioff Salama, Cleopatra Dickens, Amber Fernee and India Fowler who will alternate the role of Child. Neil McPherson’s play It Is Easy To Be Dead commemorating the centenary of the Battle Of The Somme, will have its World premiere at the Finborough Theatre from 15 June – 9 July 2016. It Is Easy To Be Dead is based on the poetry, letters and brief life of Charles Hamilton Sorley. Born in Aberdeen, Charles Sorley was studying in Germany when the First World War broke out and was briefly imprisoned as an enemy alien. He was one of the first to join the army in 1914. Killed in action a year later at the age of 20, his poems are among the most ambivalent , profound and moving war poetry ever written.
