Cameron Mackintosh confirmed today that David Thaxton would return to the role of Javert in the London cast of Les Miserables
Les Miserables the musical is a worldwide phenomenon. Breaking box office records worldwide this multi-award-winning musical has continually made Les Miserables tickets in London highly sought after.
Based on the Victor Hugo novel, this unique story of a convict who breaks parole and is pursued by a fixated inspector across the years set again the lead up to the French revolution remains an audience favourite.
The score of Les Miserables contains timeless songs including One Day More, Bring Him Home, I Dreamed A Dream, On My Own, Master Of The House, Stars and Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.
Les Miserables s written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel with additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.
Les Miserables continues to run at the Sondheim Theatre, London and on tour across the UK.

Les Miserables has topped our 100 Greatest Musicals Poll by several thousand votes. The epic musical retelling of Victor Hugo’s classic novel has music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel translated into English by Herbert Kretzmer and additional lyrics by James Fenton. The musical which was produced by Cameron Mackintosh in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company was carefully crafted by co-directors John Caird and Trevor Nunn. Few suspected when it opened to less than gushing reviews at London’s Barbican Centre that it would become the blockbuster sensation that it did, but the public warmed to its humanity and story of triumph over adversity. The Stage newspaper has reported that Cameron Mackintosh has restricted performers from using social media to publicise information about their performance schedules. The matter was brought to public attention when the Twitter group @westendcovers were advised on August 30, that Les Miserables covers would no longer be allowed to share their cover dates. Cameron Mackintosh managing director Nicholas Allott told the Stage: – “We see [social media] as a very important way of promoting our shows, through our own efforts and through our associates, however there is information that could be commercially sensitive that we believe needs to be controlled by the management. Eva Noblezada wowed audiences as ‘Kim’ in Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s legendary musical “Miss Saigon”, having made her professional stage debut in the role when the musical opened in 2014 at the Prince Edward Theatre. On Thursday evening, Les Misérables celebrated its 30th anniversary with a very special gala performance at the Queen’s Theatre in aid of the Save The Children Syria Children’s Appeal. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, Cameron Mackintosh has announced new cast members for Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre in London. Joining the cast from 15 June 2015 are Phil Daniels as Thénardier, Jeremy Secomb as Javert, Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine; Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier and Zoë Doano as Cosette. Jeremy Secomb and Zoë Doano join the company fresh from the acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd at Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop where they played Sweeney and Johanna respectively. Rachelle Ann Go comes to the role of Fantine having played Gigi in Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre. Phil Daniels is best known for his roles in Quadrophenia, East Enders, and New Tricks.
