The producers of the limited London season of Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae’s new musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie have announced casting. John McCrea will return to play the title role of Jamie alongside Josie Walker who reprises her role as his Mum, Margaret. They are joined by the following original cast members from the run in Sheffield Daniel Davids (Levi), Mina Anwar (Rayia ‘Ray’ Begum), Luke Baker (Dean Paxton), Courtney Bowman (Fatimah), Tamsin Carroll (Miss Hedge), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Harriet Payne (Bex), Shiv Rabheru (Cy), Lucie Shorthouse (Pritti Pasha) and Kirstie Skivington (Vicki) along with Alex Anstey (Laika Virgin), Luke Bayer, Marvyn Charles, Ken Christiansen (Jamie’s Dad), Jordan Cunningham (Sayid), Ryan Hughes (Mickey), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Cherelle Jay, Rebecca McKinnis, Phil Nichol (Hugo), Chloe Pole and Lauran Rae (Becca). Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, the new musical that was a hit at Sheffield Crucible, is to transfer to London’s West End in November. The show, about a 16-year-old’s journey to being himself in drag, will run at the Apollo Theatre from November 22, with previews from November 6. It premiered in Sheffield in February this year. John McCrea will reprise the lead role of Jamie alongside most of the Sheffield Crucible cast including Josie Walker, Mina Anwar, Tamsin Carroll, Daniel Anthony, Luke Baker, Courtney Bowman, James Gillian, Harriet Payne, Shiv Rabheru, Lucie Shorthouse and Kirstie Skivington. Inspired by a documentary telling the true story of 16-year-old Jamie Campbell, the musical was developed by composer Dan Gillespie Sells and writer and lyricist Tom MacRae with director Jonathan Butterell.
