Producers have announced that Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage will add 30 performances to its current UK tour schedule when it comes to London’s Phoenix Theatre this December. Based on the classic film of the same name, this new production stars Lewis Griffiths as Johnny Castle, Katie Hartland as Baby Houseman and Carlie Milner as Penny Johnson. The current UK tour has been directed by Federico Bellone, choreographed by Gillian Bruce, with design by Roberto Comotti. This new production of Dirty Dancing has been breaking box office records across the UK taking over £5.5 million pounds since it hit the road in August. Casting has been announced for the upcoming UK tour of Dirty Dancing. Dirty Dancing returns following two enormously successful West End runs, two sell-out UK tours and various international tours. Lewis Griffiths will star as ‘Johnny Castle’, one of the most iconic roles in popular culture. Lewis has had a prolific career in musical theatre, most recently starring as ‘Nick Massi’ on the UK tour of Jersey Boys. Other roles in UK tours include Ghost and Legally Blonde, and West End credits include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Rent and Whistle Down the Wind. Katie Hartland will make her professional musical theatre debut carrying the watermelons as she takes on the role of ‘Baby Houseman’, having graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2015.
