It might be billed as a tale of two cities, but for me, and those around me, this evening was a tale of one star.
This Christmas LOST Theatre will present a very Broadway take on a classic festive tale as Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol – The Musical, from the Broadway team of Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid), Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical) and Mike Ockrent (Crazy For You, Me and My Girl). Follow Scrooge on his journey with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future as he searches for the true meaning of Christmas in this classic transfixing journey. Suitable for all the family, this energetic and fun musical is the perfect feel good theatre show. Once again this year, Antic Disposition have bought their formidable skills to staging this festive classic at Middle Temple Hall, a venue associated with Dickens himself. Atmospherically, you realise upon entering this hallowed hall that you are in for a very special staging indeed and the audience were not short-changed.
This Christmas, The Old Red Lion Theatre will present a new take on Dickens’ Christmas classic in a new adaptation by Neil Bartlett. Using Charles Dickens’ original words in the bold theatrical reimagining of the much-loved Christmas story, the ensemble play all the roles – singing, creating sound effects and new stage configurations through their invigorating physicality. Dickens’ quintessential story of ghosts, greed and goodwill is given a totally new slant in this chilling, contemporary, fresh production of love, compassion and forgiveness.
