Following last year’s successful festival, Brighton Horrorfest 2017 will have even more frights in store for the nights leading up to Halloween. This year’s festival will feature hits from the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringes. Productions will include Father of Lies (based on a true story about a mysterious unsolved murder from 1973 in West Germany), which garnered four and five star reviews at Edinburgh Fringe this year. Local company The Other Realm will also be revisiting their production of HP Lovecraft’s Pickman’s Model, and séance show Talking to the Dead also returns following success at Brighton Fringe. Local puppetry favourites Barely Human Puppets will also be making an appearance with The Sorrowful Tale of Sleeping Sidney, a macabre puppet show, not for the faint-hearted! Everyone’s favourite dance show Strictly Come Dancing  is back in 2018 with 30 supersized spectacular arenas shows across the country announced today. Pre-sale for the tour starts at 9am tomorrow morning (20 September 2017). See tour dates below. The 2018 tour will be hosted by Strictly’s reigning champion Ore Oduba. Joining Ore on stage will be Strictly judges Craig Revel Horwood (who also directs the show for the eighth year) and Bruno Tonioli, together with the many celebrities and professional dancers from the highly anticipated 15th season of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Casting was today announced for a major new production of C S Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe which will play at West Yorkshire Playhouse this Christmas. This new production directed and devised by Sally Cookson and the company will be performed from 29 November 2017 – 21 January 2018. Peter Caulfield will play the loveable Fawn, Mr Tumnus. His extensive credits in theatre and television include BBC1’s Doctor Who, Channel 4’s Cucumber, and King Herod in the Olivier award-winning production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Joining him are Iain Johnstone as the great lion Aslan and CITV’s My Parents Are Aliens actress Carla Mendonça as the White Witch. Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre is to host the European premiere of Little Women the musical. Little Women follows the adventures of the four March sisters – Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy. Jo, the eldest daughter, and an aspiring writer, receives yet another rejection from a publisher. When her friend Professor Bhaer tells Jo she can do better by making her stories more personal, she weaves the story of how she and her sisters grew up in Civil War America – a tale of self-discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. Little Women is based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic novel and features a score by Grammy Award winner Jason Howland.
