Grease the Musical UK Tour

First performed on 5 February 19871 in a Chicago nightclub, Grease the musical has been seen on movie screens, television and in theatres around the world consistently since it was conceived.

Grease the musical had its first Broadway performance on 7 June 1972, closing after 3,388 performances in 1980 (the longest run on Broadway at that time until surpassed by A Chorus Line in 1983). The musical opened in London’s West End in 1973 and was revived there in 1979, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2022, and 2023 with a touring production running throughout this time.

A popular show with community theatre groups and schools, Grease was adapted in 1978 as a feature film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John with some changed plot elements and some new songs.

Over the years a number of modern celebrities have started their careers performing in productions of Grease.  The Original Broadway production featured Barry Bostwick (Danny), and subsequent casts on Broadway would feature Peter Gallagher (Danny), Marilu Henner (Marty), Judy Kaye (Rizo), Patrick Swayze (Danny), John Travolta (Doody), and  Treat Williams (Danny).

After opening at the New London Theatre in 1973 with Richard Gere as Danny. Paul Nicholas and Elaine Paige would later take over the lead roles.

The Wanted's Tom Parker will play Danny Zuko in the 2017 Uk Tour of Grease.

The Wanted’s Tom Parker is to make his theatrical debut in the upcoming 2017 tour of Grease the Musical which launches at the Palace Theatre, Manchester on 10 March 2017. Parker will play the role of Dany Zuko. The Wanted achieved two Uk Number q’s and 9 Top 10 Singles as well as 4 Billboard 100 singles. The band had two sold out arena tours, had three platinum albums, and sold 3 million singles in America.
