Great first look images from Kate Scott from the rehearsal room of Nadim Naaman’s new musical Broken Wings. “Broken Wings”, an autobiographical tale of tragic love based on Lebanese-born poet Kahlil Gibran’s 1912 masterpiece, will premiere as a semi-staged production with 9-piece orchestra, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from August 1 – 4. Co-Writer Nadim Naaman leads the cast as the iconic Gibran, the show’s narrator, with Rob Houchen (Marius in the West End production of “Les Misérables” and “Titanic” at Charing Cross Theatre) as Gibran’s teenage self and Nikita Johal, fresh from playing the lead role of Wendla in the acclaimed “Spring Awakening” at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, as Selma. New York City, 1923. An ageing Gibran narrates from his cold studio. Through poetry and music, he transports us back two decades and across continents, to turn-of-the-century Beirut. Darren Bell brings us some great First Look images of the London Wicked cast as David Witts and Chris Jarmin join the cast from Monday 23 July 2018. David Witts joins the cast as Fiyero, Chris Jarman joins the cast as Doctor Dillamond and Rosa O’Reilly takes over the role of Nessarose joining existing cast members Alice Fearn as Elphaba and Sophie Evans as Glinda. David Witts (Fiyero) starred as ‘Joey Branning’ in EastEnders, for which he won ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2013 National Television Awards. He also won an Inside Soap Award and was nominated for a British Soap Award. For American television, he has recently been a series regular in Recovery Road (for ABC/Freeform) and I Ship It (for the CW Network). First look production images by Jane Hobson of Max Webster’s production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. This great new production of As You Like It features original music by former Noah and the Whale frontman Charlie Fink. Olivia Vinall and Edward Hogg take the roles of Rosalind and Orlando, with Keziah Joseph and Beruce Khan in the roles of Celia and Oliver. Danny Kirrane plays Touchstone with Maureen Beattie as Jaques. Andrew Lippa’s musical The Little Princess is to have its UK Premiere at the Royal Festival Hall starring Amanda Abbington and Danny Mac and we have the first photo by Michael Warley. A Little Princess, with book and lyrics by by Brian Crawley (Violet), is based upon Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic childhood novel. It tells the story of Sara Crewe, as she is sent from her home in Africa to boarding school in London and separated from her father. As young Sara’s world is turned upside down, she must rely on her friends and imaginative powers to overcome her strict headmistress Miss Minchin and prove that every little girl deserves to be a princess.
