It has been announced that Craige Els will join the company of Matilda as Miss Trunchbull from September playing alongside James Clyde (Mr Wormwood), Haley Flaherty (Miss Honey) and Kay Murphy (Mrs Wormwood). Craige has previously appeared on stage in Timon of Athens, Antigone and The Cherry Orchard (National Theatre) and on screen in Ripper Street, The Bletchley Circle and Call The Midwife. Further theatre credits include Mamma Mia! (Novello), Oklahoma! (Chichester Festival Theatre), The New Yorkers (Sadler’s Wells), Never Forget (West End and Tour) and Spamalot (West End). Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian today announced the UK and Ireland tour dates for Thea Sharrock’s hit production of the West End musical The Bodyguard. The tour opened at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on Thursday 12 February 2015 before embarking on a two year UK and Ireland tour. Schedule below with further dates to be announced. Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. film, The Bodyguard has a book by Alex Dinelaris and opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in December 2012, where it played to packed houses and standing ovations. It was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Set Design. CLICK FOR SPAMALOT TOUR DATES BELOW It has been announced that Monty Python’s Spamalot is to embark on a new UK tour next year starring Joe Pasquale and Todd Carty. Based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot features a script by Eric Idle and a new score by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. The announcement of the tour follows the huge success of the O2 season where the five remaining members of Monty Python broke box office records. Idle said “Spamalot is fun. The new production is funnier, it’s more like a Python show. There are new costumes and new sets and a new director, so it’s just got a whole different spirit to it”.
