Dark comedy Shakespeare’s Women transports ten of Shakespeare’s women from the 16th century to 2024; placing them in the same domestic abuse support group where centuries may have passed, but little has changed. As they eat biscuits and talk, the play explores each woman’s darkest secrets and asks what would happen if we met these protagonists today. The matinee performance will be followed by a Q&A with Jude, Lorien, company members and a representative from Refuge. Refuge is the largest specialist domestic abuse organisation in the UK, helping survivors overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives free from fear.
