Watch the original cast of the hit musical Mamma Mia! perform especially for a hospitalised cast mate as the show celebrated its 21st anniversary yesterday.
Original cast members from the London production of Mamma Mia! Yesterday marked the 21st Anniversary of Mamma Mia! in the West End - the show opened at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6 April 1999.
Wanting to mark the occassion the original cast planned an online reunion, the only problem being that their cast mate Neal Wright had been hospitalised with a Coronavirus infection.
So the original cast reunited not only to celebrate 21 years of the show but to wish Neal well and to thank the incredible efforts being put into the current crisis by the men and woman of the NHS across the UK - true national treasures.
As of 2020, the show has productions in London's West End, where it is the seventh longest-running show in West End history, as well as various international productions. Its Broadway incarnation closed in September 2015 after a 14-year run, making it the ninth longest-running show in Broadway history.
