Ed Fringe The Musical Revue To Celebrate Its Subject

Ed Fringe The Musical Revue will celebrate all that is the Edinburgh Fringe this August at the Edinburgh Fringe

Ed Fringe The Musical Revue Composer and songwriter Patrick Stockbridge has condensed and packaged the entire Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience into an hour of satirical songs, crude observations and hilarious truths, for everyone from hardcore fringe veterans to festival first-time visitors.  Audiences can expect musical airs of Gilbert and Sullivan, Gospel shuffle, 80s Pop and Bossa Nova flare, with a mixtape of musical comedy gold including such titles as: August Is Here, Fifty-Fifty Chance of Rain, I Sort of Slept With My Castmate, Climbing Arthur’s Seat and the Hamilton-inspired rap number about flyering, Come To My Show. The lyrics are laced with festival references gathered from personal experiences and legendary stories, which have passed down through the walls of Cowgate. The show crams in as many angles on fringe life as possible, leaving the audience reminiscing about their own time at the world’s greatest arts festival.

Ed Fringe the musical revue A charismatic and insightful MC guides the audience through the show, played by Asha Cornelia Cluer, (also performing in Honey’s Happening at Greenside Infirmary) while the remaining cast members; James Dangerfield, (portraying Buster Keaton in When You Fall Down, at Pleasance Courtyard) and Emily-Jane Kerr (Shakespeare For Breakfast and Dickens for Dinner at C Main) assist in presenting a whole host of fringe experiences, accompanied both musically (and dramatically) by a live band. Director Charlotte Peters is currently Resident Director on the UK tour of Warhorse and Director on the national tour of Birdsong. Relishing the opportunity to take on a project where war is not on the agenda - Charlotte has been able to create an atmosphere of fun, wit and silliness for the cast and audience alike.

Ed Fringe the musical revue The predecessor to this show January: The Musical Revue (Music and Lyrics by Patrick Stockbridge, Book by Alexander Parker) was produced for short runs in London in 2016 at the Canal Café Theatre and in 2017 at Brasserie Zedel with a cast including Julie Atherton, Hannah Grover and Marc Pickering. The audience feedback we received said it would be perfect for Edinburgh…were it not all about January and thus Ed Fringe: The Musical Revue was born, written in a similar vain but with completely new and original material. The Ed Fringe Revue team are looking to produce a short tour of January: The Musical Revue in 2019 and hope that Ed Fringe will become a festival staple for years to come. What will the ‘Musical Revue’ series satirise next…? Watch this space! Ed Fringe: The Musical Revue will be presented as part of the Edinburgh Fringe at the C too Main House (Venue 4) from 2 - 27 August 2018 at 9.25pm
