Tony Awards 2017 Nominees

It’s that time of year again as the nominations for the 2017 Tony Awards were announced today (3rd May 2017).

Leading the field is Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, a pop opera based on a small sliver of Tolstoy’s War and Peace, which stars Josh Groban. Garnering ten nominations is Hello Dolly! by legendary Broadway composer Jerry Herman is back starring Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce.

Following its win at the 2017 Olivier Awards, Groundhog Day is once again nominated for Best Musical alongside The Great Comet, Dear Evan Hansen, and Come From Away.

Broadway debuts abound in the Best Play category with four American writers making their first appearances on Broadway including A Doll’s House – Part 2 by Lucas Hnath, Sweat by Lynn Nottage, Oslo by J T Rogers, and Indecent by Paula Vogel.

This year’s Tony Awards will be held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday 11 June 2017 at 8pm (EST) hosted by Kevin Spacey.
