The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe at West Yorkshire Playhouse

Casting was today announced for a major new production of C S Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe which will play at West Yorkshire Playhouse this Christmas. This new production directed and devised by Sally Cookson and the company will be performed from 29 November 2017 – 21 January 2018. Peter Caulfield will play the loveable Fawn, Mr Tumnus. His extensive credits in theatre and television include BBC1’s Doctor Who, Channel 4’s Cucumber, and King Herod in the Olivier award-winning production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Joining him are Iain Johnstone as the great lion Aslan and CITV’s My Parents Are Aliens actress Carla Mendonça as the White Witch. The Playhouse’s first co-production with the National Theatre, Barber Shop Chronicles is the dynamic new play inspired by a Chapeltown barber, written by rising literary star Inua Ellams (Black T-Shirt Collection, the National Theatre, The 14th Tale, Fringe First winner). Vibrant and joyous, Barber Shop Chronicles spans continents following African men from London to Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos and Accra, contemplating the role the barber shop plays in their lives.
