It was announced today that the National Theatre’s production of Tony Kushner’s Angels In America: A Gay Fantasia will transfer to Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre for a limited eighteen week engagement from February 23, 2018. Marianne Elliott’s new production opened at the National Theatre earlier this yea to rave reviews. The production is presented in two halves Part One – Millenium Approaches and Part Two – Perestroika. Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on Broadway will star two-time Tony Award-winner Nathan Lane and Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield. The production will also feature original National Theatre cast members Susan Brown, Denise Gough, Amanda Lawrence, James McArdle and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett with other casting announced shortly. Multi award-winning actress Josie Lawrence is to star in a new production of Mother Courage and her Children at Southwark Playhouse from November 2 – December 9, 2017. Bertolt Brecht’s classic play is translated by Tony Kushner, the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright whose epic play Angels In America is currently playing at the National Theatre. Josie said: “I first read Mother Courage when I was an 18-year-old drama student and immediately fell in love with the play. Now I feel ready to play her. It’s a major tick on my theatrical bucket list.” In a land ravaged by war, Mother Courage pulls her cart with her three children in the wake of the army, trading with soldiers and attempting to make profit from the war.
