Theatre503 has announced casting for its upcoming UK premiere production of The Dark Room which will be presented from 8 November to 2 December 2017. The Dark Room takes a sober look at one of the devastating issues of contemporary Australian discourse – the abuse of defenceless children. The show serves as a timely reminder that no matter how far apart we are in distance and time, we are all responsible for each other’s lives. Deep into the night, in a run-down motel somewhere in central Australia, six lost souls collide in a distant tragedy of lovesickness and social breakdown – only it’s not the same night. A teenage boy from a nearby country town longs for a stranger. Pregnant Emma longs for her husband, a country cop, drunk after his best friend’s wedding. Casting announced for Sid and Viv at Theatre503

Casting has been announced for Philip Correia’s debut play Sid and Viv which will debut at Theatre503 in London before transferring to Northern Stage in Newcastle  in October. Charlie Hardwick (Emmerdale ITV, Cabaret Live Theatre) will play Viv and Patrick Driver (A Tale Of Two Cities Regent’s Park, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time Apollo Theatre) will play Sid. They are joined by Aimee Kelly (Wolfblood and Wolfblood 2 – BBC), Joe Blakemore (Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, Vera – ITV), Ryan Nolan (Neil – Alphabetti Theatre; Sunshine on Leith – Sage Productions) and Sarah Balfour (Valhalla and Burning Bridges – Theatre 503). Jake Orr joins Theatre503 as a producer

Former theatre blogger, freelance producer and programmer Jake Orr will join South London’s Theatre503 as an in-house Producer commencing on 3rd July 2017. In 2009 Jake founded A Younger Theatre, an organisation that supports and nurtures young people through journalism training. It has since supported over 500 young writers and partnered with organisations including the Guardian, Royal Opera House, The Globe and the English National Opera. In 2014 Jake co-founded Incoming Festival with New Diorama Theatre, a festival that supports emerging theatre companies. To date the festival has presented the work of over 100 companies to 4000 audiences. Jake is co-director of producing company Making Room working with artists across the UK. As Associate Producer his credits include The Bombing of the Grand Hotel (Cockpit Theatre and Tour), Mouse Plague (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, BAC and Tour) and The Eradication of Schizophrenia in Western Lapland (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, BAC and Tour). … Read more
