The West End’s most famous understudy Steph Parry is to take on the role of Dorothy Brock in the current West End revival of 42nd Street. Steph shot to fame last week when she stepped up from understudy in 42nd Street to run down the road to play Donna in Mamma Mia when their leading lady was injured. As 42nd Street celebrates the 500th performance of its run, producers have announced that Steph will follow Lulu into the role of legendary dive Dorothy Brock on 9th July 2018. Producers have announced today that Grammy-award winner Sheena Easton is to make her West End debut as Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2017. 42nd Street Tickets are now on sale. Sheena Easton has sold over 20 million records around the world and remains the only artist in history to have top five records on five major Billboard charts. Joining Easton will be Tom Lister as Julian Marsh/ Lister played Carl King in Emmerdale for eight years and most recently starred as Wild Bill Hickok in the Calamity Jane UK Tour. Producers of the hit musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory have announced that the production will close during it’s fourth year in London’s West End. The official closing date has yet to be announced. Roald Dahl has been breaking box office records at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where it has been seen by 1.8 million people since it’s opening in 2013. It currently ranks in the top three longest-running shows at the venue alongside 42nd Street and Miss Saigon. A Broadway production will open in the 2016-17 season and tickets for a UK tour will go on sale next year. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory continues its record-breaking run at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane with the announcement that is will be extending bookings until 4th June 2016.  This new booking period will go on sale on 9th February 2015. Producers also revealed that Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory broke the record for the highest weekly gross sales for a third time, taking more than £1.1 million in the week commencing 29 December 2014. That week saw the 2,200 seat theatre – one of the largest in the West End – 100% full, for every single performance. The production celebrated its 700th performance in the West End on Saturday 24th January 2015. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is directed by Sam Mendes.
