Pippin to transfer to Southwark Playhouse from Hope Mill Theatre

Wicked London extends bookings until 1 December 2018
Wicked London has announced its 24th extension with 500,000 new tickets now available for performances until 1 December 2018 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre where it is already the 16th longest running show in West End theatre history. Wicked London has now been seen by over 8 million people in London alone and currently stars Alice Fearn (Elphaba), Sophie Evans (Glinda), Bradley Jaden (Fiyero), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Morrible), Andy Hockley (The Wizard), Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond), Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose), Jack Lansbury (Boq), Laura Pick (Standby for Elphaba) and Carina Gillespie (Standby for Glinda). Stephen Schwartz pays a visit to Working at Southwark Playhouse
On Monday night award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Wicked, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame) paid a visit to Southwark Playhouse to see the production of his musical Working which is currently playing. The European premiere has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and includes songs by people such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and James Taylor. The cast is led by Gillian Bevan, Dean Chisnall, Krysten Cummings, Siubhan Harrison, Peter Polycarpou and Liam Tamne and is directed by Luke Sheppard, with choreography by Fabian Aloise. Stephen said “I was delighted to see this extremely well-sung and well-staged production of Working. I’m looking forward to telling my co-authors what a great job has been done with our show”. Top 100 Greatest Musicals Poll – Number 2 – Wicked
It’s been great to see two relatively new musicals make it into our Top 100 Greatest Musicals Poll. Firstly with Hamilton and now taking our Number Two spot – Wicked! Based on the book Wicked: The Life And Times Of The Wicked Witch Of The West by Gregory Maguire, Wicked the musical has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Wicked arrived on Broadway in 2003 at the Gershwin Theatre where it still resides after a try-out in San Francisco with a cast including Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda, Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Joel Grey as The Wizard.
