Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party recieves major revival

Tony Jones, Zoë Wanamaker and Stephen Mangan are to appear in a new production of Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party which will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 9 January 2018 until 14 April 2018. Stanley Webber (Toby Jones) is the only lodger at Meg (Zoë Wanamaker) and Petey Boles’ sleepy seaside boarding house. The unsettling arrival of enigmatic strangers Goldberg (Stephen Mangan) and McCann disrupts the humdrum lives of the inhabitants and their friend Lulu, and mundanity soon becomes menace when a seemingly innocent birthday party turns into a disturbing nightmare. Truth and alliances hastily shift in Pinter’s brilliantly mysterious dark-comic masterpiece about the absurd terrors of the everyday. Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, together with J K Rowling have today confirmed that talks are now well underway to bring the record-breaking show to Broadway in Spring 2018. Exclusive talks are now being held with the Ambassador Theatre Group to bring the hit play to the Lyric Theatre on Broadway. ATG are currently planning multi-million dollar renovations to remodel, transform and reconfigure the 1900 seat theatre, turning it into a more intimate theatre with approximately 1500 seats. The producers of Funny Girl must have been in their element a few months ago when their new production of Funny Girl went on sale at the Menier Chocolate Factory. All of the tickets for the run were sold in a little over 90 minutes leaving many disappointed. Those same producers have announced this morning that Sheridan Smith will take to the stage at London’s Savoy Theatre for a strictly limited season of 12 weeks only from 9th April 2016 until 2 July 2016.
