Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have announced details of their 2018 season, which includes As You Like It, Peter Pan, Dinosaur World Live, Little Shop Of Horrors and The Turn Of The Screw. The season opens on 17 May 2018 with Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie (17 May – 15 June), a revival of their 2015 Olivier Award-nominated production, in the final year of the First World War Centenary Commemorations. For the wounded soldiers of WW1, imagination is their only escape. Yet as they’re transported to the fantastical lagoons and pirate ships of Never Land, allegories of the war they’ve left behind are ever present. George Llewelyn Davies, later killed in action in 1915, was one of the children who inspired J. M. Barrie to create the iconic character of Peter Pan. Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre by popular demand following a sell out season last year. Jesus Christ Superstar features Tyrone Huntley (who won the Evening Standard Emerging Talent Award for his performance as Judas), Declan Bennett as Jesus, David Thaxton as Pilate and Peter Caulfield as Herod. With direction by Timothy Sheader, design by Tom Scutt, choreography by Drew McOnie, musical direction by Tom Deering, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph, the production won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical in the Evening Standard Awards and has received 15 nominations in the BroadwayWorld Awards, including Theatrical Event of the Year. Following on from last years sell-out success, Regent’s Park Open Theatre sees the return of Jesus Christ Superstar for an extended season from 11 August to 23 September 2017. Joining Declan Bennett (Jesus), Tyrone Huntley (Judas), David Thaxton (Pilate) and Peter Caulfield (Herod) are Maimuna Memon (David Bowie’s Lazarus, and The Busker’s Opera), Phillip Browne (Anything Goes – West End, Piaf – Donmar, Ragtime – Piccadilly Theatre) as Caiaphas and Sean Kingsley returns as Annas. Tim Newman (Memphis – West End, Mamma Mia! – International Tour) will play Simon Zealotes. Phil King returns to the production as Peter. The rest of the company includes Josh Dever, Rhys Whitfield, Charlotte Riby and Sinead Long. With an incredible Bernstein score and Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie directing and choreographing, On The Town hits Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London on May 19. They have now released these great rehearsal pictures for what is set to be the venue’s biggest dance musical yet. We are pleased to bring you these great rehearsal photographs by Johan Persson. Danny Mac, Fred Haig and Samuel Edwards play Gabey, Chip and Ozzie – roles made famous on film by Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin – and Siena Kelly, Lizzy Connolly and Miriam-Teak Lee take the roles of Ivy, Hildy and Claire. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have announced their 2017 Season which will see Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie direct and choreograph On The Town, Artistic Director Timothy Sheader directs Charles Dickens’ A Tale Of Two Cities in a new adaptation by Matthew Dunster, and Caroline Byrne directed Oliver Twist Created For Everyone Aged Six And Over, adapted by Anya Reiss from the novel by Charles Dickens. Jesus Christ Superstar, winner of the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical in the Evening Standard Awards will return by popular demand for just 41 performances.
