New Casting Announced for Aladdin At Prince Edward Theatre

As Disney’s musical Aladdin heads towards its first birthday, it has been announced that Matthew Croke will make his West End debut in a leading role taking on the role of Aladdin from 5 June 2017. Originally from Sheffield, Matthew has appeared previously in Annie get Your Gun (Sheffield Crucible). Singin’ In the Rain (UK Tour), Funny Girl (Menier Chocolate Factory) and West Side Story (UK Tour). He has also understudied and performed the roles of Don in Singin’ In The Rain (Palace Theatre), Eugene in Grease (Piccadilly Theatre) and Fiyero in Wicked (Apollo Victoria). Jade Ewen and Trevor Dion Nicholas will continue in the roles of Jasmine and Genie respectively. Following the sell-out success of the 25th Anniversary Gala of Miss Saigon on the 22 September, 2014, the celebratory encore teaser of that special performance has just been released via You Tube. The 25th Anniversary Gala saw the current cast of Miss Saigon joined by original 1989 cast members including Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga, Simon Bowman and Claire Moore. Tickets for the 25th Anniversary Gala – with tickets set at original 1989 prices sold out within minutes. Sir Cameron Mackintosh said at the end of the show: ” We never thought we would ever get this chance to do it all over again. To have two fantastic casts here is just extraordinary. We are incredibly blessed.” We’ll just have to wait to see if the rumours of Miss Saigon following Les Miserables onto the big screen eventuate. We hope so! Miss Saigon 25th Anniversary Gala Sells Out

The Gala Performance to celebrate 25 years of Boublil and Schönberg’s “MISS SAIGON” on Monday 22 September, has sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale this morning, Tuesday 26 August. Over 18,000 people tried to buy tickets when booking opened at 10.00am; an unprecedented amount for a single performance in a theatre with just over 1700 seats. Fans who queued around the block at the Prince Edward Theatre managed to secure tickets at the original 1989 prices. Online demand was so overwhelming that it crashed the box office ticket system at 10.10am and the entire Delfont Mackintosh Theatre website shortly afterwards. The technical team restored the system as quickly as possible and the performance was sold out within minutes.
