Sir Ian McKellen to voice the Demon in stage adaptation of The Exorcist

  When The Exorcist opens at the Phoenix Theatre it will feature the voice of one Ian McKellen in the devilish role as the voice of the Demon. This great new trailer (click here) was released to promote Sir Ian’s involvement in the show. Multi award-winning Ian McKellen has had a 55 year long career on stage and on screen. For the Royal Shakespeare Company he has played Romeo, Macbeth, Iago and King Lear and at the National Theatre, has appeared in productions of Coriolanus, Richard III, Uncle Vanya and The Seagull. He gained his first Oscar nomination for Gods and Monsters and his second for Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Casting announced for world premiere of The Exorcist

Producer Bill Kenwright has announced casting for the world premiere of The Exorcist which opens at The Phoenix Theatre from 20 October 2017 for a limited season. Jenny Seagrove will play Chris MacNeil opposite Peter Bowles as Father Lankester Merrin, Adam Garcia as Father Damien Karras, Clare Louise Connolly as Regan, Todd Boyce as Doctor Strong, Mitchell Mullen as Doctor Klein, Elliot Harper as Father Joe and Tristram Wymark as Burke. When the medical profession fails to provide answers to young Regan’s strange symptoms her desperate mother Chris turns to a local priest for help. Sean Mathias is to direct a new stage production of the cult horror novel The Exorcist which will run at the Phoenix Theatre from 20 October 2017 to 10 March 2018. This unique stage experience has been adapted for the stage by John Pielmeier based on William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel. Last night the great and the good gathered for the Bloodwise Gala Night of The Girls – a new musical by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth which opens in the West End tonight Tuesday 21 February 2017. Celebrity guests, who were in the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent and HRH The Countess of Wessex, included Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Mark Owen, Michael Ball, and Angus Deayton. At the curtain all, the cast were joined on stage by writers Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, producers David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers and Bob Wankel of The Shubert Organization, and the original Calendar Girls. The ‘Girls’ are played by Debbie Chazen, Sophie-Louise Dann, Michele Dotrice, Claire Machin, Claire Moore and Joanna Riding. The Girls is directed by Tim Firth.
