Michelle Collins is to lead the cast of the first major revival of Chloe Moss’s play How Love Is Spelt at Southwark Playhouse this September.
The full cast has been announced for new comedy My Dad’s Gap Year at London’s Park Theatre, led by Michelle Collins. Running from 30 January to 23 February, the play by Tom Wright follows the journeys of three characters. Dave, played by Adam Lannon, and his 18-year-old gay son William, played by Alex Britt, both find romance on an adventure to Thailand. Collins, best known from EastEnders and Coronation Street, will play William’s mum who embarks on her own journey of self-discovery after becoming newly single. They are joined in the cast by Max Percy and the previously announced Victoria Gigante. The production is directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair, with set and costume design by Sarah Beaton, lighting by Derek Anderson and sound by Benjamin Winter. We are pleased to bring you this first look inside the rehearsal studio for the UK and Ireland tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Chitty Chity Bang Bang has music and lyrics by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman, who were also responsible for Mary Poppins, The Slipper and the Rose, The Aristocats and The Jungle Book. The Sherman Brothers have won two Academy Awards with a further nine nominations, two Grammy Awards and they have received 21 gold and platinum albums. The tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang features Jason Manford (Caractacus Potts), Martin Kemp (the Childcatcher), Michelle Collins (Baroness Bomburst) and Phill Jupitus (Baron Bomburst). Directed by James Brining, Artistic Director of the West Yorkshire Playhouse, the tour of the much loved Sherman Brothers musical kicks off in Southampton on Wednesday 10 February.
