Fiasco Theatre Brings Into The Woods To The Menier

Book Now for Fiasco Theatre's production Of Into The Woods at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Following an acclaimed season in New York, ground breaking theatre company Fiasco will bring their production of Into The Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine to the Menier Chocolate Factory this summer. Using ten actors, multiple musical instruments and boundless imagination, this fairytale classic is reimagined as never before. This production, which received the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival, will include the original US cast. Made into a successful Disney film starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp and James Corden, the score features timeless songs including Children Will Listen and No One Is Alone. With the announcement that Florian Zeller’s The Father will return to the West End by popular demand comes news that two other Florian Zeller plays are to be produced. So who is Florian Zeller? Florian Zeller is a French novelist and playwright. His work has been translated into several languages, including English. He won the prestigious Prix Interallié in 2004 for his novel Fascination of Evil (La Fascination du Pire) and several Molière Awards for his plays. The Molières are considered France’s highest theatrical honour. Florian Zeller wrote his first novel Artificial Snow when he was twenty-two years old. His second novel, Lovers or Something Like It was well received but it was his third novel, Fascination of Evil (the 2004 Prix Interallié winner) which made him a household name in France. Menier Revives Ayckbourn’s Communicating Doors

The Menier Chocolate Factory have today announced that they will stage the first London revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy thriller Communicating Doors from the 7th May to the 27 June 2015. A hired dominatrix flees for her life through a hotel communicating door only to find herself 20 years in the past…. Communicating Doors won Ayckbourn the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Best West End Play Award and the prestigious Molière Award in France. It was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Comedy. Michael Urie Brings Buyer & Cellar To The Menier

Jonathan Tollins’ Buyer & Cellar, the one man comedy which was a major Off-Broadway hit in 2013 will have its UK premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 19th March running until 2 May 2015. Buyer & Cellar is an outrageous new comedy about the oddest of odd jobs – an unemployed Los Angeles actor going to work in Barbra Streisand’s Malibu basement. The production reunites the team behind the sell-out award-winning New York run – Stephen Brackett directs Michael Urie as Alex More. Urie is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Marc St James in Ugly Betty, and is also currently appearing in hit comedy Modern Family. Tony nominated actor Aaron Tveit will join the cast of Jamie Lloyd’s production of Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Assassins will make Tveit’s UK stage debut. His credits include Next To Normal on Broadway and the film of Les Miserables. He is currently appearing in the hit television police drama Graceland. Jamie Lloyd is to direct Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory this Christmas. The show forms part of the venue’s winter season, which also includes Buyer and Cellar, by Jonathan Tolins, and An Evening with Joan Plowright. Fresh off his success with the Trafalgar Transformed season, and his productions of The Commitments and Urinteown which is now set to transfer to The Apollo Theatre, Jamie Lloyd is continuing to build a stellar reputation as a director of musical theatre.
