Mel Brooks has announced that his musical Young Frankenstein is heading to the UK. Based on his 1974 of the same name, Young Frankenstein will open at the Newcastle Theatre Royal for a limited pre-West End engagement from 26 August to 9 September 2017, before opening in London’s West End in Autumn 2017. Following a limited Broadway run, Young Frankenstein is being re-worked. Brooks will work with co-writer Thomas Meehan and collaborate with Broadway director and choreographer Susan Stroman for for this all-singing all-dancing new production. Jason Manford will play down-trodden accountant leo Bloom in what will be his first ever UK theatre tour. Manford’s wealth of experience spans from a critically acclaimed West End role in Sweeney Todd, alongside Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, to award-winning stand-up comedy shows across the country.
