Cats Opens At London Palladium

Nicole Scherzinger made her theatrical stage debut as the London Palladium last night playing Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. This special revival is playing at the London Palladium for a limited run and re-unites the shows original creative team of Director Trevor Nunn, Choreographer Gillian Lynne, and Designer John Napier who have given the show a face lift 33 years after it first opened at the New London Theatre. Cats was to become one of the longest-running shows on Broadway and in the West End winning major theatrical awards worldwide with a combined audience of over 50 million people and counting. Last night’s audience included Elaine Paige who originated the role of Grizabella in 1981 and the composers family. Don’t miss out on seeing this classic musical in its revamped glory. Cats runs until 28th February 2015.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, Trevor Nunn and Gillian Lynne were today joined by Producer David Ian to announce that Cats will be returning to the West End in a “new edition” of the show. Originally produced at The New London Theatre, the show ran for over 21 years confounding early naysayers who thought that a musical based on T.S Elliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats would never work.  The show went on to be staged around the world conquering all before it. Lloyd Webber and his original creative team were excited to reveal that the London Palladium production would allow them to create a new blueprint for the show going forward for years to come.  Lloyd Webber revealed that this production would allow him a chance to re-work Growltiger’s Last Stand, which he was never really happy with, and to re-work The Rum Tum Tugger as a modern day rapper. … Read more

Cast announced for I Can’t Sing – the X Factor musical

The full cast list for I Can’t Sing – The X Factor london musicals has now been announced. Opening at The London Palladium in March 2014, the show is written by Harry Hill and Steve Brown. Harry Hill said: “I worked with a lot of our cast in the workshops for I Can’t Sing! and we have some brilliant new faces too. I’m thrilled with The Acting Company we have on board – and it’s a coup to have Nigel Harman as Simon. He was so funny in Shrek the Musical – not so much in Downton. With the wig and teeth he looks more like Simon, than Simon.” Olivier Award-winner Nigel Harman has been cast as the judge everyone loves-to-hate Simon Cowell.
