Edinburgh hit Alan Turing play comes to the King’s Head

To Kill A Machine at Kings Head Theatre

Transferring to the King’s Head Theatre following successful runs in Wales and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015 is Scriptography Productions’ To Kill a Machine. Catrin Fflur Hews’ play tells the story of war-time cryptanalyst Alan Turing through the lens of a gameshow. It examines his pioneering work considering whether a machine could think, asking the questions “what is the difference between a human and a machine?” and “If a human is prevented from thinking, do they then become a machine?” At the heart of the play is a powerful love story and the importance of freedom, in relation to Turing’s own life, death and posthumous re-evaluation. It is the story of Turing the genius, Turing the victim and Turing the constant in a tumultuous world. Created in 2012, Scriptography Productions looks to support and develop writers, find new platforms for text based work to be produced and encourage cross … Read more

F*cking Men Extends Run At Kings Head

Fucking Men at the King's Head Theatre

It has been announced that Joe DiPietro’s critically acclaimed play F*cking Men will extend its run at the King’s Head Theatre from 5 September – 26 September 2015. The play is a moving portrayal of hunger and desire as it follows the erotic encounters of 10 men in their interconnected search for sexual satisfaction. Each scene in the play is a frank, candid and sometimes brutally honest depiction of the lustful transaction between two men. It is a loose adaptation of the 19th century play La Ronde in which pairings of characters are featured in scenes preceding and succeeding sexual encounters. F*cking Men originally played at the Kings Head in 2009 and became the longest ever Off West End run of a play running for 9 months. Is this production set to repeat that record-breaking run? REVIEW: Trainspotting, King’s Head Theatre ✭✭✭✭

Trainspotting at the King's Head Theatre, London

With the audience sat and stood around three sides, the action regularly erupts off the stage, from projectile soiled sheets to splashes of murky toilet water. At 65 minutes, it moves along at a cracking and sometimes disorienting pace that leaves you staggering out of the theatre feeling like you’ve been assaulted (but in a good way).
