Honeymoon In Vegas Gets Concert Production at London Palladium
The London Musical Theatre Orchestra will be staging a concert version of Jason Robert Brown’s Honeymoon In Vegas to the London Palladium as the first show of its 2017 season. Honeymoon In Vegas tickets are now on sale. Based on the hit 1992 film starring Sarah Jessica Parker, and Nicholas Cage, Honeymoon in Vegas tells the story of mild-mannered Brooklynite, Jack, who haunted by the fear of a promise to his dying mother never to get married, avoids proposing to his new girlfriend Betsy. He finally summons the nerve and takes Betsy to Las Vegas only to have his plans compromised by a dashing gambler with an eye for luxury and Jack’s new fiancée. Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years opens at the St James Theatre tomorrow night (Wednesday 2nd December) and we are pleased to bring you these great first look images of the production which stars Samantha Barks and Jonathan Bailey and is directed by Jason Robert Brown. In Jenna Russell, Damian Humbley and Cynthia Erivo, Lenson has assembled three of the best, most exciting performers of musical theatre in London. Each performer turns in a bravura and totally committed performance here. Just hearing these people sing Brown’s music is worth the whole experience.
REVIEW: Jason Robert Brown In Concert, Royal Festival Hall ✭✭✭✭
The unstoppable, extraordinary Cynthia Erivo proved, twice, what a potent combination Brown’s music and lyrics can be in the hands of a singer whose voice can electrify every note. Her rendition of Stars And The Moon was perfectly judged, poetical and gorgeous in every way, each word ablaze with intense feeling, each note true and rich. But her staggeringly powerful I Can Do Better Than That served as the 11 o’clock number here and, quite rightly, brought the house down.
