Fiasco Theatre Brings Into The Woods To The Menier
Following an acclaimed season in New York, ground breaking theatre company Fiasco will bring their production of Into The Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine to the Menier Chocolate Factory this summer. Using ten actors, multiple musical instruments and boundless imagination, this fairytale classic is reimagined as never before. This production, which received the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival, will include the original US cast. Made into a successful Disney film starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp and James Corden, the score features timeless songs including Children Will Listen and No One Is Alone. Meryl’s Cut Song From Into The Woods Released

The much talked about song was cut by the creative team who felt that the song did not work within the context of the show, but it now looks like the song will be included in the upcoming DVD release. REVIEW: Into The Woods, Roundabout At Laura Pels Theatre ✭✭✭✭
Derek McLane provides a set which looks like the shattered innards of a grand piano. The proscenium is framed by bits of piano, and the back wall is almost entirely taken up by a tangle of piano wires – they stand in for the Woods in some ways. But the overall result is that the audience is constantly reminded that they are not watching a musical; they are inside one.
REVIEW: Into The Woods – The Movie. Released 9th January 2015
Anna Kendrick makes a marvellous Cinderella, a precise balance between fairytale character and real human. Her scenes with Blunt are wonderful and, for me anyway, Steps of the Palace is the highlight of the film. Chris Pine is terrific and happily sends himself up mercilessly, and to great comic effect, in Agony. Meryl Streep is, throughout, mesmerising.
