Disney Theatrical Productions have announced that Dean John-Wilson will play the role of Aladdin in the West End premiere of Disney’s latest musical hit. Dean will be joined by Jade Ewen as Jasmine, Don Gallagher as Jafar, Peter Howe as Iago, Irvine Iqbal as the Sultan, Nathan Amzi as Babkak, Stephen Rahman-Hughes as Kassim and Rachid Sabitri as Omar. As previously announced, Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas will make his London stage debut as Genie. Disney Theatrical has announced that the Tony Award-winning stage musical Aladdin whill begin previews at London’s Prince Edward Theatre from 27 May 2016 with it’s opening night scheduled for Thursday 9 June 2016. Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas will make his london stage debut as Genie with further casting to be announced. “In 1992, Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s reimagining of the Aladdin tale became the biggest movie of the year around the globe. Seriously – anyone interested in good productions of musicals should hot foot it to Manchester to catch Bond’s work. The puppet plants which Olié produces here are wonderful, that magic combination of fascinating and repellant. Gunnar Cauthery makes an excellent Seymour, all shy, geeky and naive. Kelly Price is luminous as Audrey.
