Pinter At The Pinter Season Announced
Pinter At The Pinter – a unique season featuring all twenty short plays written by Harold Pinter, the greatest British playwright of the 20th Century has been announced for the Harolder Pinter Theatre from September 2018. Pinter at the Pinter is to be presented by The Jamie Lloyd Company, Ambassador Theatre Group, Benjamin Lowy Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions and Glass Half Full Productions. The entire season will presented at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Pinter at the Pinter will be directed by Jamie Lloyd, Patrick Marber, Lyndsey Turner, Ed Stambollouian and Lia Williams. The season celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Nobel Prize winner’s death. The twenty plays will be presented in repertoire by a company of world-class creatives, many of whom were Harold Pinter’s friends and collaborators. Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party recieves major revival
Tony Jones, Zoë Wanamaker and Stephen Mangan are to appear in a new production of Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party which will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 9 January 2018 until 14 April 2018. Stanley Webber (Toby Jones) is the only lodger at Meg (Zoë Wanamaker) and Petey Boles’ sleepy seaside boarding house. The unsettling arrival of enigmatic strangers Goldberg (Stephen Mangan) and McCann disrupts the humdrum lives of the inhabitants and their friend Lulu, and mundanity soon becomes menace when a seemingly innocent birthday party turns into a disturbing nightmare. Truth and alliances hastily shift in Pinter’s brilliantly mysterious dark-comic masterpiece about the absurd terrors of the everyday. REVIEW: Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, Harold Pinter Theatre ✭✭✭✭✭
James Macdonald’s production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is a breathtaking depiction of human misery peeled back, with four wonderful performances at its core. If I see a better production this year, then I will count myself phenomenally lucky.
