Girl From The North Country – the acclaimed award-winning musical is to play an eight week limited encore season at the Gielgud Theatre, London from December 2019.
The nominees for the 2018 Olivier Awards have been announced with Hamilton receiving a record 13 nominations. Elaine Paige and Alexandra Burke have announced the nominations for the 2018 Olivier Awards. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton leads the race with a record-breaking 13 nominations closely followed by The Ferryman with 8 nominations. The 2018 Olivier Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 8 April 2018 in a ceremony hosted by Catherine Tate. This has been a terrific year for new musical theatre writing, with so much great talent on show that it’s difficult to know where to begin. ‘The State of Things’ by Thomas Attwood and Elliot Clay made a dazzling debut at the ever-enterprising Brockley Jack Studio Theatre, with a score that easily outshone some much more celebrated new productions in the West End, and a book that holds promise but needs more development. Speaking of which, ‘Everyone’s Talking About Jamie‘ arrived from Yorkshire as a terrific collection of songs by Dan Gillespie-Sells and Tom MacRae, although the latter’s book doesn’t exert quite the same grip on the imagination.
